Tampa Bay Rays Manager Kevin Cash Details What Was Wrong with Tyler Glasnow on Friday

In this story:
The Tampa Bay Rays lost, 2-1, to the Atlanta Braves on Friday night in a battle of the two best teams in baseball.
The win moved the Braves to 59-28 on the season while the loss dropped Tampa to 57-34. The best team in baseball for much of the season, the Rays have now lost six straight games.
In addition to the loss, there was some concern about the health of Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow, who left in the sixth inning. He had surrendered just one earned run on two hits while striking out eight.
The following update on Glasnow comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow battled cramping in his hands and legs Friday against Atlanta, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
That's what led to Glasnow's exit in the top of the sixth inning. Cash noted that the 29-year-old right-hander has dealt with similar types of cramps before and that he was probably done for the night anyway at 88 pitches. He should be able to take his next scheduled turn in the Tampa Bay rotation coming out of the All-Star break. Glasnow racked up eight strikeouts Friday versus Atlanta while yielding two runs -- one earned -- on two hits and one walk across 5.2 frames. He stands 2-3 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 64:16 K:BB in eight starts (41.2 innings) this year.
The Rays appear to have dodged something more serious here but Glasnow has battled injuries over the last few years, missing time with Tommy John surgery and a slew of other issues.
He's in his eighth year in the big leagues with the Pirates and Rays and owns a 22-23 career record.
The Rays and Braves play each other again on Saturday night in Tampa. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. ET as Spencer Strider (10-2, 3.66 ERA) goes for the Braves and Taj Bradley (5-4, 5.27) goes for Tampa.
