The Tampa Bay Rays got a scare this week when star pitcher Tyler Glasnow left a rehab start at Triple-A Durham with "generalized left side tightness."

Glasnow had been rehabbing from an oblique injury so the news of issues with his side certainly caused antennas to raise among Rays fans.

But on Friday, Rays manager Kevin Cash provided a positive update on Glasnow. He spoke on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM. You can hear the full comments below but there is a partial transcript here.

"We avoided a pretty big scare with Glass, everything checked out fine, MRI was clean. Glass is just very aware of his body and how he feels and he just didn't feel totally right... our hope is Tuesday, he's right back on the mound providing us a three, maybe four inning outing."

Injuries have been a major part of Glasnow's career, unfortunately. He underwent Tommy John Surgery in 2021 and missed most of 2022 recovering.

When healthy, Glasnow is one of the best pitchers in baseball. He had a 1.78 ERA in 2019 (12 starts), a 2.66 ERA in 2021 (14 starts) and had a 1.35 ERA in two starts last year.

For his career, he's 20-20 with an ERA of 4.00. He made his major league debut with the Pirates in 2016 and was traded to the Rays in the 2018 season.

The Rays are the best team in baseball through the first month and change. They are a league-best 30-9 and lead the American League East by five games.

They'll play the Yankees tonight at 7:05 p.m. ET in New York.
