The Tampa Bay Rays can ill-afford any more pitching injuries, but alas, here we are.

The team has scratched ace Tyler Glasnow from his start on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers.

Here's the latest from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Glasnow has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Tigers due to back spasms, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

ANALYSIS
Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez will pick up a spot start in place of Glasnow, who reportedly experienced the back issue late Saturday. The Rays are likely still gaining information on the extent of Glasnow's injury, so at this stage, the team is hoping that he'll miss only one turn through the rotation and won't require a trip to the injured list.

The Rays are already out Drew Rasmussen and Jeffrey Springs for the season because of injuries, and are dealing with a worrisome situation involving the forearm health of Shane McClanahan, so the Rays will hope for the best with Glasnow.

The 29-year-old is 5-3 this season with a 3.15 ERA but has only made 12 starts because of injuries earlier this season.

One of the best arms in baseball, he's had trouble staying healthy in general over the last few years. He made just 16 appearances in 2021 and 2022 combined.

The Rays are 67-46 and trail the Baltimore Orioles by 3.0 games in the American League East.

The Rays and Tigers will play on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. ET. Erasmo Ramirez will start in place of Glasnow for Tampa Bay.
