Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow appears ready to rejoin the rotation, and they desperately need him.

The Rays' rotation has lost Jeffrey Springs for the season to Tommy John surgery and has lost Drew Rasmussen for at least the next eight weeks, so Glasnow's imminent return comes at the right time.

Pitching at Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Glasnow delivered a fabulous final rehab start.

The Durham Bulls tweeted his line following his performance:

Final line this afternoon for Tyler Glasnow, who allowed 1 run over 6.0 innings with 6 strikeouts

He threw 67 pitches, including 48 strikes That'll play

Glasnow was out at the start of the season with an oblique issue, and then got a little scare earlier in the rehab process.

Injuries have been a major part of Glasnow's career, unfortunately. He underwent Tommy John Surgery in 2021 and missed most of 2022 recovering.

When healthy, Glasnow is one of the best pitchers in baseball. He had a 1.78 ERA in 2019 (12 starts), a 2.66 ERA in 2021 (14 starts) and had a 1.35 ERA in two starts last year.

For his career, he's 20-20 with an ERA of 4.00. He made his major league debut with the Pirates in 2016 and was traded to the Rays in the 2018 season.

The Rays are currently the best team in baseball at 34-14 but the Baltimore Orioles are red-hot and trying to catch them in the American League East. At the time of this posting, they are just 3.5 back.

The Rays will host the Blue Jays on Monday at 6:40 p.m. ET.
