Despite receiving overtures, the Boston Red Sox have no interest reportedly in trading veteran Justin Turner at the trade deadline.

Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reported the news on social media:

Teams that have asked Red Sox about Justin Turner have been told there is no interest in dealing him

It's an unsurprising stance from the Red Sox, who have won six of their last 10 games and have vaulted to just 1.5 games back of the final wild card spot in the American League.

Turner is a key piece of the Sox lineup, and the Sox clubhouse, as he's provided needed veteran leadership alongside Kenley Jansen.

Turner is hitting .289 this season with 16 homers and 66 RBI. He's also logged a .359 on-base percentage while hitting in the middle of the Sox order and providing defensive versatility. He's played first base, second base, third base and has served as the designated hitter.

The lifetime .289 hitter is in his 15th major league season with the Orioles, Mets, Dodgers and Red Sox. He is a two-time All-Star who helped the Dodgers win the 2020 World Series.

As good as the Sox have been, they appear set to get stronger as Trevor Story is due back in a few weeks, and Chris Sale could be back as early as next week.

The Red Sox will take on the San Francisco Giants on Friday night in Game 1 of a weekend series.

The Sox will send Kutter Crawford to the mound against Giants ace Logan Webb.

First pitch is set for 10:15 p.m. ET.
