After being speculated upon on Wednesday, it is now official: The Cleveland Guardians are getting back starting pitcher Triston McKenzie from the injured list.

The lanky right-hander will make his season debut on Sunday against the Minnesota Twins.

The following comes from the RotoWire fantasy baseball portal:

McKenzie (shoulder) is set to join the Guardians' starting rotation Sunday at Minnesota, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

ANALYSIS
McKenzie suffered a teres major muscle strain in his final Cactus League start this spring and wound up missing the first two months of the 2023 regular season, but he's ready to rock now following three minor-league rehab outings with Triple-A Columbus. The young right-hander broke out to the tune of a 2.96 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 190:44 K:BB over 191.1 regular-season innings last year with Cleveland.

His return will be a big boon to a Guardians team that enters play on Thursday at 25-30 and 3.5 back in the American League Central.

A key fixture in the team's rotation, McKenzie helped the Guardians to a playoff berth and a spot in the American League Division Series a season ago.

For his career, he's 18-21 with a 3.68 ERA.

He was drafted by the Cleveland organization in the first-round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of the Florida high school ranks.

That game on Sunday is slated for a 2:10 first pitch. McKenzie will pitch against Twins ace Joe Ryan, who is 7-2 with a 2.77 ERA and in the mix for the American League Cy Young award.
