Detroit Tigers Reveal Miguel Cabrera's Role After His Impending Retirement

In this story:
Miguel Cabrera may be retiring in a few days, but he won't be leaving the Detroit Tigers just yet.
The club announced Friday that following Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians, Cabrera would join the front office as a Special Assistant to the President of Baseball Operations.
"Lessons like how to deal with praise and pressure are exactly what we want Miguel teaching players throughout our organization," President of Baseball Operations Scott Harris said in a statement. "I'm honored to have him as part of our staff, and know he will continue to make the Tigers better in his new role."
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.

The Tigers already announced how they would honor Cabrera during his final homestand in Detroit, including pregame ceremonies, fan giveaways and unique farewells.
Cabrera has played 2,074 games as a member of the Tigers since arriving in Detroit back in 2008. Prior to that, Cabrera spent the first five seasons of his MLB career with the Miami Marlins.
Over the course of his career, Cabrera has racked up 3,170 hits, 511 home runs, 624 doubles, 1,880 RBI and 1,550 runs – all of which lead all active players. The two-time MVP, 12-time All-Star, seven-time Silver Slugger and future Hall of Famer is a .306 hitter for his career, boasting a .900 OPS since debuting in 2003.
Cabrera is in the final year of an 10-year, $292 million contract he inked with the Tigers in 2014.
Manager AJ Hinch is likely to play Cabrera in all three games of the Tigers' upcoming series against the Guardians, despite the fact that the 40-year-old slugger has only appeared in 95 games so far this season.
First pitch for Friday is scheduled for 6:40 p.m., while Saturday's game will start at 1:10 p.m. ET and Sunday's season finale will get underway at 3:10 p.m. ET.
