Los Angeles Angels pitcher and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani and New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso have won American League and National League Players of the Week, respectively, MLB announced Monday afternoon.

Ohtani went 6-for-20 with three home runs, a double, a stolen base and four RBI over the past week. He hit .300 with a 1.282 OPS across six games.

The two-way player also had one start as a pitcher on Thursday, picking up the win over the Detroit Tigers. Ohtani tossed a one-hit, complete game shutout, striking out eight batters in game one of a double-header, then he hit two home runs in game two.

Ohtani now leads the league with 39 home runs, seven triples, 66 walks, 12 intentional walks, a .403 on-base percentage, a .680 slugging percentage, a 1.083 OPS, 266 total bases, 5.9 hits allowed per nine innings and a 7.8 WAR. The impending free agent, who is supposedly remaining in Anaheim through Tuesday's trade deadline, is also hitting .302 with a 3.43 ERA.

Alonso wasn't able to add any value on the mound like Ohtani, but he was a menace to opposing pitchers at the plate all week long.

The 28-year-old slugger went 7-for-23 with four home runs and 12 RBI, posting a .304 batting average and 1.197 OPS. Alonso had two games with multiple home runs – July 25 against the New York Yankees and July 28 against the Washington Nationals.

Alonso boosted his batting average six points to .218 and his OPS 26 points to .819, and he is up to 30 home runs and 75 RBI on the season.

Ohtani and the Angels face the Atlanta Braves at 7:20 p.m. ET on Monday, although he won't make another start until the upcoming weekend series against the Seattle Mariners.

Alonso and the Mets have Monday off, and will return to action Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals.
