Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani has been one of the league's most explosive and dynamic players since joining MLB in 2018, but he has yet to show off that pop against the San Francisco Giants.

Ohtani has not hit a home run in any of his 10 career games against the Giants. According to ESPN Stats & Info, that is the most games Ohtani has played against a single opponent without hitting a home run.

The AL MVP frontrunner will get a chance to break that cold streak Wednesday, when he will also take the mound for Los Angeles.

Ohtani is batting .177 with a .469 OPS against the Giants over the course of his career – his fourth-lowest batting average and second-lowest OPS against any team. In addition to going just 6-for-34 against San Francisco pitchers, Ohtani has just one extra-base hit when facing the eight-time World Series champions.

Through the first two games of this week's series, though, Ohtani is 3-for-8 with a double, an RBI and two stolen bases.

There are five other teams Ohtani has yet to hit a home run against, but those sample sizes are smaller. Ohtani has played seven games against the Miami Marlins, five against the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals, four against the Cincinnati Reds and three against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Ohtani leads the league with 40 home runs so far this season, and he ranks second in baseball with 120 since 2021. This season, the two-way standout is batting .307 while also leading MLB with seven triples, 72 walks, a 1.078 OPS and an 8.6 WAR.

On the mound, Ohtani is 9-5 with a 3.32 ERA and 1.067 WHIP.

First pitch for Wednesday night's series finale between Los Angeles and San Francisco is scheduled for 9:38 p.m. ET. After tossing that first pitch in the top of the opening frame, Ohtani is expected to bat second when the Angels get their first chance at the plate.
