Los Angeles Angels' Legend Re-affirms Desire to Stay with Team, Won't Ask For Trade

Despite rampant speculation that he should get out of Anaheim, Los Angeles Angels' star Mike Trout reiterated that he doesn't want to be traded. Instead, he's pushing for the team to continue adding to the roster.

Despite people all around baseball saying that he needs to get out of Anaheim, Los Angeles Angels' star Mike Trout has reiterated that he won't ask for a trade. Instead, he's trying to push ownership to add to the roster.

Per Jeff Passan of ESPN on social media:

Mike Trout just said he does not want to be traded now — he called it “the easy way out” — and that he’s been pushing Angels owner Arte Moreno and general manager Perry Minasian to sign one of the remaining big free agents.

First off, it's fair to understand why people think Trout should want out. One of the best players in the sport's history, Trout has only been to the playoffs one time in 13 years. People want to see him playing meaningful baseball in October and they don't think that will happen with the Angels - especially after they lost Shohei Ohtani this offseason.

Second off, it's admirable that Trout wants to stay where he started. In an era of transfer portals and people forcing their way out of places, there's something nice about the old-school nature Trout is showing.

Thirdly, it's understandable why Trout is pushing ownership to go all-in, but you can understand the hesitance. Angels' ownership has spent big on Albert Pujols, Justin Upton, Anthony Rendon - and Trout - to no avail thusfar.

Trout is a lifetime .301 hitter with 368 home runs and 940 RBI. He's a future first-ballot Hall of Famer who is a three-time MVP, an 11-time All-Star and a Rookie of the Year winner.
