For the Mets, they are coming off a tough series against the Brewers, where they were just swept, including Wednesday's loss which included a walk-off home run by Garrett Mitchell.
The story in the early going for the Mets has been injuries to the starting rotation, as Justin Verlander is currently out with a right teres major strain, and a slow start offensively.
Brandon Nimmo, who was signed to a long-term contract extension this winter, is hitting just .238. Lindor is hitting .227 even after a three-hit performance on Wednesday. Alonso slugged two homers on Wednesday and is still checking in at just .192, while Vogelbach (.200), and Canha (.160) are also struggling in the early going.
For the Marlins, the expected starter on the mound is the youngster Edward Cabrera. He went four innings in his first start of the season while striking out two.
He owns a lifetime 6-7 record with a 3.79 ERA.
