In this story:

The Texas Rangers will send left-hander Jordan Montgomery to the mound in Game 1 of the ALCS on Sunday night.

We now also know that they will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound in Game 2, which is being played on Monday afternoon.

That information came from Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News:

Nate Eovaldi will start Game 2 for Rangers. They have not set anything beyond that

Eovaldi has been excellent in two postseason starts for Texas, surrendering just two runs in 13.2 innings of work. This continues a great postseason career for Eovaldi, who is 6-3 with a 2.70 ERA in 13 career playoff appearances. He was excellent for the Boston Red Sox in the 2018 playoffs, helping them win the World Series, and was great again in 2021 when the Sox got to the ALCS.

He signed with the Rangers this past offseason, going 12-5 with a 3.63 ERA in 25 games.

In his 12th major league season with the Dodgers, Marlins, Yankees, Rays, Red Sox and Rangers, he's 79-73 in his career with a 4.10 ERA.

This ALCS will be a great test for Eovaldi, as the Astros have one of the best lineups in baseball - and they also have great experience, having played in each of the last six ALCS.

A positive for Eovaldi is that the Astros don't feature many lefties in the lineup. Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker are the only lefties who regularly enter the lineup. Now that he's healthy, Michael Brantley should see starts as well.

Game 1 on Sunday night is 8:07 p.m. ET. Game 2 on Monday is 4:37 p.m. ET.
