WATCH: Padres Fan Gets Tatis to His Sign Leg, Then Gets Autograph Tattooed

At Padres FanFest, a fan had Fernando Tatis Jr. sign an autograph on his thigh. Shortly after receiving the autograph, the fan went to a tattoo parlor, and had the autograph tattooed into his leg.

Over the weekend, one lucky San Diego Padres fan received an autograph that he should never lose.

At Padres FanFest, a fan had Fernando Tatis Jr. sign an autograph on his thigh. Shortly after receiving the autograph, the fan went to a tattoo parlor, and had the autograph tattooed into his leg.

The tattoo artist carefully traced the autograph, etching the signature into the fan's skin permanently.

Tatis isn't the only player to have his signature tattooed into a fan's skin. Last season, a Los Angeles Dodgers had an autograph from outfielder Matt Beaty tattooed into his forearm. Not long after, Beaty was traded to the Padres in exchange for River Ryan. Here's to hoping for the sake of this Padres fan that Tatis isn't traded soon.

It's hard to imagine Tatis being moved two years after he signed a 14-year, $340 million contract to remain with the Padres. Tatis did not play in 2022, after sustaining a shoulder injury and then testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug. Tatis was suspended 80 games and will not be eligible to return until April 20 at the earliest in 2023. However, he expects to be back to his 100% once he serves the remainder of his suspension.

Without Tatis, the Padres reached the National League Championship Series, defeating their division rival Dodgers in the NLDS in four games. With Tatis returning to the club, and having signed All-Star shortstop Xander Bogaerts over the winter, the Padres hope to take the final step and win a championship in 2023. Tatis finished third in National League MVP voting in 2022 and fourth in 2021. Both seasons, he received a Silver Slugger Award.
