Pittsburgh Pirates Drop 2024 Schedule Featuring Several Must-See Matchups

In this story:
The Pittsburgh Pirates' entire 2024 regular season schedule went public Thursday.
Pittsburgh will be on the road for Opening Day, heading to Miami for a matchup with the Marlins on March 28. The last time the Pirates and Marlins played each other on opening day was in 1996.
The Pirates' first homestand will be against two American League teams, facing off against the Baltimore Orioles from April 5-7 and the Detroit Tigers on April 9 and 10. Pittsburgh's next four series will all be on the road, and they won't return to PNC Park until May 3 against the Colorado Rockies.
Following the series against the Orioles and Tigers, the Pirates' next home interleague series will be against the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals. Pittsburgh's road interleague opponents are the Oakland Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees.
The series between the Pirates and Yankees in the Bronx is the regular season finale for both teams.

At 41-49, the Pirates are 8.5 games back of first place in the National League Central and 8.0 games back from the third NL Wild Card spot. According to FanGraphs, Pittsburgh has just a 1.4% chance of making the postseason in 2022, meaning the club will likely have plenty of time off before getting its 2024 campaign underway.
The Pirates still have 72 games left this season, though, the first of which is at home against the San Francisco Giants on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. ET.
