One former UFC title challenger doesn’t seem very optimistic about how Jorge Masvidal will perform in his boxing debut against Nate Diaz.

It’s been more than four years since Masvidal and Diaz headlined UFC 244 and “Gamebred” claimed the inaugural BMF title, and now the two men are officially set to meet again in a 10-round boxing match on June 1 in Inglewood, CA.

Diaz came up short in his boxing debut against Jake Paul last year while Masvidal has been out of action since he announced his retirement after UFC 287, and apparently Chael Sonnen doesn’t expect the Miami-native’s boxing debut to go especially well.

Sonnen will undoubtedly tackle the Masvidal vs. Diaz news in more depth in a future video on his YouTube channel, but the former UFC title challenger has admittedly been targeting “Gamebred” in recent days even before news of his boxing debut was made official.

The fact that Masvidal’s retirement didn’t last very long will come as little surprise to most combat sports fans, although the boxing match does raise some questions about whether or not Diaz is in fact eyeing a return to the UFC later this year as his recent social media activity has suggested.

The PPV event will go head-to-head with UFC 302 in Newark, NJ when it takes place on June 1, and it will be interesting to see if combat sports fans are willing to shell out some extra cash to see Masvidal and Diaz rematch in the boxing ring on the same night as a major UFC PPV.
