Brandon Moreno Releases First Statement After Losing Flyweight Title at UFC 290

Moreno assured fans that he intends to come back better than ever after suffering a difficult setback.

Brandon Moreno has shared an optimistic message with fans after losing his flyweight title to Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 290.

The co-main event between the two flyweights was a highly-anticipated matchup ahead of UFC 290, but no one could have predicted that Moreno and Pantoja would combine to put on an all-time classic.

At the end of the epic five-round war it was Pantoja who walked away with the UFC’s flyweight title via split decision, and after taking a day to recover from the bloody war Moreno took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the loss.

“When this is all over, I promise you it’ll be the most watched Netflix movie. I’ll be back soon friends, much love to all!! I’m going to have a great day with my friends! #teamassassinbaby!!" - Moreno said.

Although one judge did surprisingly score the fight 49-46 in favor of Moreno, the loss is certainly a disheartening one for the former champion after the tremendous amount of heart he showed in a bout that may go down as Fight of the Year.

“The Assassin Baby” was poised to begin his flyweight title reign in earnest after finally settling his four-fight series with Deiveson Figueiredo earlier this year, but now he’ll go back to the drawing board after suffering his second UFC loss to Pantoja and third overall to the Brazilian after he was also submitted by him on Season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter.

Moreno at least seems to be taking the loss in stride, and it’s probably at least some comfort that his bout with Pantoja was the clear Fight of the Night winner on a UFC 290 event that provided non-stop action and will likely go down as one of the best events in the history of the sport.
