VIDEO: Alexandre Pantoja Upsets Champion Brandon Moreno in Bloody War at UFC 290

The co-main event of UFC 290 provided sensational action and crowned a new flyweight champion.

Alexandre Pantoja defeated Brandon Moreno and claimed the UFC’s flyweight title in a Fight of the Year candidate at UFC 290.

The highly-anticipated flyweight title fight served as the co-main event of UFC 290, which had already made a strong case to be considered the UFC’s most action-packed card of the year even prior to Pantoja and Moreno entering the cage.

One of the dominant storylines heading into the fight was the fact that Pantoja had already bested the Mexican once in the UFC as well as when the pair competed on The Ultimate Fighter, but Moreno’s success since then and his status as champion made him the clear favorite to retain his title.

Fans had high hopes for the third meeting between the two flyweights, but no one could have expected the incredible war that the two men combined to put on for the raucous crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight featured wild momentum swings and huge moments for each man, but after everything was said and done it was Pantoja who came out on top and claimed the UFC’s flyweight title via split decision.
