Paddy Pimblett: UFC Champ Leon Edwards Knocked Out Ian Garry in Training

Paddy Pimblett doesn't want to see Ian Garry vs. Leon Edwards just yet.

Paddy Pimblett has intensified the already fiery dynamic between Ian Machado Garry and Leon Edwards by alleging that "Rocky" has already knocked out Garry in training.

Speaking to Sky Sports on November 13, Pimblett dismissed Garry as a welterweight title challenger to Edwards:

"Ian Garry doesn't deserve a title shot, lad, come on," Pimblett said dismissively. "Leon's already knocked him out in training so we don't need to know about that."

Ian Garry Sent to Hospital by Leon Edwards in 2022

In a post made to Instagram in November 2022, Garry spoke about being on the receiving end of one of Edward's head kicks --- possibly the same incident Pimblett was referring to:

"We went to hospital this morning because for the past two days I’ve been in excruciating pain - shooting up from my face to my teeth," Garry jested. "...Anyone watch the Leon Edwards [vs. Kamaru] Usman fight? Anyone know how that went? One of the best head kicks in the UFC --- Yeah, I might have felt what that kick felt like..."

In the post caption, Garry remarked, "But he never would have landed it if my Cardio was on point. I have been off for four months. But he did land it. F*CK."

Ian Garry Not Welcome at Leon Edwards' Gym: 'There's Just Basic Rules'

Edward's home gym, Team Renegade, publicly admitted that Garry was no longer welcome to train at their facility, stating, "If the coaches feel it’s not adding to the team’s culture, a fighter is refused entrance."

Veronica Hardy, a teammate and fellow UFC star of Edwards, pointed out that Garry "is the only person to have ever been kicked out of [Team] Renegade," emphasizing, "there's just basic rules. Be respectful, show up on time, don't be spreading gossip about other people."

Despite Garry's connections with Team Renegade or his interactions with Edwards on the mats, his chance at a title shot depends entirely on his accomplishments in the octagon. "The Future" is set to take on welterweight dark horse Vicente Luque at UFC 296. With Edwards defending his title on the same card, a standout victory by Garry could significantly strengthen the likelihood of a Garry-Edwards matchup.
