Report: Another Massive UFC 300 Fight Between Former Champions Set

A big fight for the UFC 300 card looks to be set.

Another fight appears to be landing on the historic UFC 300 card, and it's a significant one.

UFC CEO Dana White has had fight fans hanging onto his every word for all of his social media live streams since he's been announcing fights for the UFC 300 card. Recently, he announced a women's strawweight title fight between champion Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan for the card.

While not officially announced as of this writing, a welterweight championship fight between titleholder Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad has been heavily rumored for UFC 300.

AgFight has reported that a bantamweight clash between former champions Deiveson Figueiredo and Cody Garbrandt is planned for the biggest MMA show in 2024. If the report proves to be correct, then "No Love" will get what he's been asking for. During an interview with ESPN's Brett Okamoto, Cody said he'd like to share the Octagon with "Figgy" because he feels it would be an exciting fight.

"Two former world champions now in the same division, was previously supposed to be made in 2020, obviously I had COVID," Garbrandt said. "I was gonna go down to 125. So, there's a lot of rights that make it an exciting fight. It just came to me the week of the fight. I was not overlooking Brian or anything like that, but I wrote down Tuesday or Wednesday of fight week that I was gonna knock Brian out in the first round and call out Figgy."

Cody Garbrandt vs. Deiveson Figueiredo is reportedly on for UFC 300.

It looks the UFC brass agrees with Cody Garbrandt.

In late 2023, Figueiredo made his bantamweight debut against Rob Font. It was a successful showing from the Brazilian, who earned the unanimous decision victory. During his backstage post-fight interview, Figueiredo told Okamoto that he felt the action slowed down for him and was less frenetic than the flyweight division. It was at 125 pounds where Deiveson Figueiredo ruled as a UFC champion twice.
