In a bizarre turn of events, Andre Petroski managed to rock himself on the hips of Jacob Malkoun when attempting a takedown at UFC Atlantic City on March 30.

The two grapplers traded knockdowns in round one, and Petroski looked to impose his grappling in round two when he shot for Malkoun's hips. The Aussie quickly defended the takedown by spinning and pulling his leg out, and much to the bemusement of the crowd, Petroski stumbled forward and fell to his knees. Malkoun capitalized on the opportunity by blasting his downed opponent to the ribs with a thudding kick and following up with grounded shots for the TKO win.

"Maybe it was my hip," Malkoun said in his post-fight interview. "I've got some bony hips. .... I just saw a wounded gazelle on the floor so I was like 'You know what? Kick him.'"

The two middleweight's careers take diverging paths, as Malkoun technically extends his win streak to three --- with his last fight coming by disqualification despite dominating his opponent. On the other hand, Petroski experiences his first back-to-back losses, both by TKO, the TUF 29 alum began his UFC career with a five-fight streak which has quickly been derailed.

UFC Atlantic City Fight Cancelled Last Second

It is a promising start to UFC Atlantic City, which has seen two barnburner fights to begin the night. Though, a last-minute cancellation has marred the prelims. Russian phenom Victoria Dudakova suffered a medical issue backstage and her fight with Melissa Gatto was cancelled during the Malkoun vs. Petroski fight.

Dudakova's UFC career grows more peculiar, as she scored her first victory by dislocated elbow, then missed weight, and now forces a cancellation on fight night. Hopefully the rest of UFC Atlantic City will continue as scheduled.
