Max Holloway Wants to 'Top' UFC 300 KO, Reveals Biggest Fight He Wants Next

Holloways talks what's next for him after scoring a career-best KO of Gaethje.

Max Holloway isn't done making history just yet.

At 32 years old, the former UFC Featherweight Champion and BMF titleholder has already amassed a career that's worthy of the UFC Hall-of-Fame. But Holloway feels like there's still more to work to do after putting on one of the greatest performances ever last weekend.

At UFC 300, Holloway took on the dangerous Justin Gaethje head-on in the final 10 seconds of their five-round fight and swung for the fences. In a scene straight out of a movie, Holloway knocked Gaethje out cold with a punch right before the bell to secure the BMF championship.

"Blessed" has had a lot of legendary moments in his career, but the finish over Justin Gaethje might just be his best one yet and he knows it'll be a challenge to surpass.

"You wanna put your name in the legacies and the histories, and this is how you do it. I wanna top it, but I can't see it right now," Holloway told KHON2 News. "I can't look in the future, but I know that I'm still here. I'm still young. We got a lot more to do. I'm sure I'll top this moment, but right now it's gonna be a hard one to beat."

Recency bias aside, Holloway still holds his first performance against Jose Aldo as his favorite moment inside the Octagon. Holloway unified the title at UFC 212, dethroning Aldo by TKO in his backyard, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"For me personally, second," Holloway said at the UFC 300 post-fight press conference, on where he ranks the Gaethje KO. "Nothing like going out to Rio, Fighting the king of Rio, getting an undisputed title against him was amazing."

Fighting in massive fights throughout his career, Holloway says there is no fight bigger right now than a highly-awaited rematch with UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

"It'd be hard not to say that, we did finally get it announced he's actually fighting, to be a Conor 2, to run it back. That's the hugest fight, I think," Holloway added. "But legacy, ideal-wise, trying to get back to an undisputed title. Gotta go with [Ilia] Topuria, he beat the man that --- that I couldn't help but figure it out. We'll see, me and him, we're having a little bible verse beef on top of Twitter right now. So, life's good. It's looking like it's gonna be him next."

21 years old at the time, Max Holloway lost a unanimous decision to Conor McGregor in 2012. Holloway is the only UFC featherweight fighter who can say he went the distance with "The Notorious" as McGregor knocked out everybody else he fought during his time at the weight class.

One leg break injury and an acting debut in "Road House" later, McGregor is officially back in action against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29th. We'll see if the Irishman ever crosses paths with Holloway again after the fighting Hawaiian's pivotal moment at UFC 300.

Until then, Max Holloway is looking to reclaim what was once his: the UFC Featherweight title, which champ Ilia Topuria currently holds.
