LAKE BALBOA– After El Camino Real erased Birmingham's 10-point lead to tie the game at 26 in the second quarter, Birmingham finished the game on a 35-17 run to win 61-43.

Janna Holley led the game with 14 points for the Patriots, who only allowed three points in the fourth quarter of their West Valley League opener. Bita Hashemi scored 10, and Jaz Washington, Aliah Medina, and Samantha Velasquez each scored nine points.

ElCo was led by Audrey Quintana's 13 points, and also got eight points from Gaby Quintana and Alanna Topete.
