Bonita Vista High School senior shortstop Daniel McElveny was selected in the sixth round of the MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox. He was taken 166th overall.

McElveny was named to the All-CIF San Diego Section 1st Team after hitting .435 as a senior. He finished the season with five home runs, nine doubles, and 23 stolen bases. McElveny signed to play college baseball at San Diego State but is expected to bypass his commitment and sign professionally.
