COSTA MESA– Lucky Sutton put on a performance for the ages to lift the Dons to a 71-62 win against Orange Lutheran in the CIF 1-AA Southern Region championship.

He nearly broke the all-time San Diego Section single-game rushing yardage record with 435 yards on "just" 27 carries, and finished with six rushing touchdowns. Sutton, a high 3-star prospect, also caught for 45 yards and another tub. Charlie Mirer threw touchdown passes to Sutton, Darian Whaley, and Deric Woo. Whaley also caught for a two-point conversion and ran for a 51-yard TD. LB Tano Letuli had a small handful of sacks/tackles for loss for Cathedral, one of which was in the end zone for a safety.

Logan Gonzalez threw for 433 yards and five touchdowns on 31-45 completion with no interceptions. Jaylen Lynch caught for four touchdowns, Malik Blackmon had a touchdown catch, and Gonzalez also completed a two-point conversion pass to Kaleb Marshall. Noah Hitzke ran for a touchdown for OLu as well. DB Xane Uipi recorded an interception for the Lancers.

Cathedral will play Folsom next weekend at Saddleback College in the CIF 1-AA State finals.
