2022 Cathedral Catholic running back Lucky Sutton signed with San Diego State on Thursday morning, the second day of the early signing period.

2022 Cathedral Catholic running back Lucky Sutton signed with San Diego State on Thursday morning, the second day of the early signing period. Sutton broke out for the Dons during the spring season, rushing for 721 yards and six touchdowns in four games.

"I don’t even know if he’s a sleeper anymore, but Lucky Sutton probably should have gotten some more carries last year, but is next in line for a Dons future star running back," Cathedral Catholic defensive coordinator John Montali said prior to the spring season.

Sutton's senior season was one of the best by a running back in San Diego Section history, finishing with over 2,600 rushing yards and 41 total touchdowns. He helped lead the Dons to the San Diego Section Open Division Championship and the CIF D1-AA State Championship, beating Folsom this past weekend.

Sutton joins teammate Rambo Mageo and Eastlake linebacker Trey White as local prospects in the class of 2022 to sign with the Aztecs.
