GARDENA, Calif. -- Bishop Montgomery boys basketball coach Doug Mitchell won his 750th career game at the school in Wednesday night’s 68-59 victory over Gardena Serra. Knights’ senior guard Jalen Vazquez scored a team high 17 points in the win. Junior guard Kelcy Phipps scored 16 points and junior forward Will Smith added 11. Bishop Montgomery had been on a COVID-19 pause and hadn’t played a game since beating Heritage Christian 68-49 on Dec. 22.

Serra senior guard Jeremy Dent-Smith led all scorers with 19 points in the loss. Bishop Montgomery improved to 12-1 and 1-0 in the Del Rey League with the victory. Serra fell to 15-7 and 2-2 in the league. Watch the highlights below.
