Mater Dei High School will host nine boys high school basketball games on Saturday for the annual Nike Extravaganza.

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Mater Dei High School will host nine boys high school basketball games on Saturday for the annual Nike Extravaganza. The two day event began Friday. Rolling Hills Prep took down Capistrano Valley Christian 55-53 in one of the featured games of the Friday portion. Seven of the 18 teams playing on Saturday are currently ranked in the SBLive California Boys Basketball Top 25 rankings.

Game 9: Corona Centennial 80 Coronado 71

Coronado's Pop Pop Isaacs tied the game at 69 to force overtime after hitting three clutch free throws with four seconds to play in regulation. Corona Centennial outscored Coronado 11-2 in the extra period to win 80-71. Donovan Dent paced Corona Centennial with 31 points. Isaacs scored 22 for Coronado. Junior big man Aaron McBride put in 16 points for Corona Centennial and sharpshooting junior Jared McCain added 15.

Game 8: Mater Dei 55 Los Altos 48

Los Altos put up a good fight against Mater Dei, but the Monarchs prevailed 55-48. Los Altos led 23-21 at halftime. Jack McCloskey scored 17 points to finish as Mater Dei's top scorer. CJ Bellamy scored 18 for Los Altos to lead all scorers. Jazz Gardner added 17. There was some pushing and shoving between the two teams at the end of the game but the squads were separated after the final buzzer and went into their respective locker rooms.

Game 7: Bishop Gorman (Nev.) 89 Whitney Young (Ill.) 59

Power 25 No. 17 Bishop Gorman drained 13 threes in their 89-59 blowout win over Whitney Young. The Gaels were red hot from deep as Jase Richardson hit four of six attempts from downtown, Darrion Williams (pictured above) went two for two and Eli Bradley connected on five of six threes. Williams led all scorers in the game with 24 points. Richardson scored 20 and Bradley put in 15. AJ Casey scored 18 points for Whitney Young in defeat.

Game 6: Notre Dame 70 St. Augustine 63

Notre Dame took down St. Augustine, San Diego's top team, 70-63. Knights' junior Dusty Stromer scored 20 points to lead Notre Dame and senior Luke Rishwain added 18. St. Augustine junior Jurian Dixon led all scorers with 21 points in the loss.

Game 5: Harvard-Westlake 76 Crean Lutheran 68

Harvard-Westlake junior Brady Dunlap scored 20 points in the Wolverines' 76-68 win over Crean Lutheran. Senior Cameron Thrower scored 18 points and sophomore Trent Perry added 15. Harvard-Westlake led for the entirety of the second half. Vyctotius Miller scored 18 points for Crean Lutheran, but fouled out midway through the fourth quarter. Saints sophomore guard Darrell Morris did not play in the game.

For Dunlap, playing at Mater Dei feels like playing at home.

"I always love coming to Mater Dei to play," Dunlap said. "I feel like I flourish in this gym. I love the hoops. Last year we played Mater Dei and I played well. I came into the game in a bit of a shooting slump but because I was here with the environment and the coaches, I was just ready to go and all of that. Once I saw in warmups that the shots were falling and once that first shot fell, I was just flowing...Once I get in a flow, I feel like I'm one of the best shooters in the country."

The Open Division playoff seeds in the Southern Section will come out the second week of February. Expect Harvard-Westlake to be one of the eight selected following their win over Crean, another probable Open team. For the Wolverines, it's mission accomplished.

"It's always been our goal," Dunlap said. "It's always been something that when we're in the fall and we're just working out two or three times a week, it's something we always mention, to work hard just to get to the Open Division. The mindset is wake up early, get some extra shots up to get to the Open. Securing that spot is such a blessing for our team to experience that. Last year, beating Corona Centennial and then losing the two after that was heartbreaking. The redemption tour for us should be fun."

Game 4: Long Beach Poly 53 Capistrano Valley 48

Poly freshman Jovani Ruff stole a Capistrano Valley inbounds pass and hit two free throws with 11 seconds left to clinch a 53-48 Jackrabbit win. Poly senior Christian Watson scored 16 points to lead the Jackrabbits. Ruff added 12 points and senior Gabe Cummings scored nine on three three point shots. Capo Valley junior Efe Gucoglu led the Cougars with 15 points in the loss.

Game 3: Foothill 62 Aliso Niguel 54

After a 14-14 first quarter, Foothill pulled away from Aliso Niguel to win 62-54 and improve to 23-1. Senior guard Jacob Horton (pictured) put in 14 points to lead the Knights who had ten different players score. Senior guard Brandon Novida scored a game high 18 points for Aliso Niguel and senior guard Tyler Weaver added 17 in defeat.

Foothill has now won 14 games in a row.

"We play together really well," Horton said. "Every game is a new game. We took one L this season and we kept going and now we've won 23. We've just got to keep pushing."

Foothill will compete in the Division 2AA Southern Section playoffs next month. The Knights will be one of the favorites to win the title.

Game 2: Los Alamitos 61 Westchester 34

Los Alamitos led from start to finish against Westchester en route to a 61-34 blowout win. Senior guards Tyler Matthews (pictured above) and Daniel Mellgoza each scored 12 points to lead the Griffins. Junior guard Jonthan Choyce scored 10 points for Westchester in the loss.

The lone highlight for Westchester came at halftime when former head coach Ed Azzam was honored. Azzam coached for 42 years at Westchester winning 15 City titles and six state championships before retiring last season.

Game 1: JSerra 70 Marina 69

Senior guard Rob Diaz hit two free throws to put JSerra ahead 70-65 and the Lions hung on to beat Marina 70-69 in game one on Saturday. Diaz finished with a game high 27 points. He also grabbed 12 rebounds. EJ Bryson scored 17 points for JSerra and Aidan Fowler added 13. Eric Hodgekins scored a team high 21 points for Marina.
