TOP 25 OUTFIELDERS IN SAN DIEGO SECTION HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Kalen Applefield – San Marcos – Sophomore

Applefield has taken a big step forward after playing 29 games on varsity as a freshman. He's hitting .356 with four doubles and three home runs. Applefield is committed to Cal.

Hudson Beamon – Granite Hills – Senior

Beamon patrols centerfield and completes a loaded lineup for the Eagles. He's hitting .380 with a .458 on-base percentage and has two doubles and a triple on the season.

Kyle Becker – Del Norte – Senior

One of the most experienced players in the county, Becker has 70 career hits and is hitting .361 with three home runs and eight doubles in his final season. He's signed with Nevada.

DJ Cardinal – Del Norte – Senior

DJ Cardinal Del Norte

Cardinal has a career .510 on-base percentage over three varsity seasons and has been hit by a staggering 30 pitches. The San Diego State-signee has two home runs and three doubles on the season.

Elijah Cook – Mater Dei Catholic – Senior

Cook is among the section’s home run leaders with six so far on the season.

Nick Cook – Poway – Senior

Cook is one of the top unsigned seniors in Southern California. He's hitting .355 with an on-base percentage of .500 and is third in the section with eight home runs as league play winds down.

River Diaz De Leon – Grossmont – Junior

Diaz De Leon has adjusted well in his first varsity season, hitting .382 while leading the Foothillers in hits (26), home runs (6) and runs batted in (19).

Ryan Flather – Torrey Pines – Senior

Flather hit .357 in limited time last season and has stepped up to lead the Falcons in hitting this season at .371 to go along with six doubles and three home runs.

Bode Grieve – Bishop’s – Senior

Bode Grieve Bishop's

Grieve has an on-base percentage of .484 and four home runs this season. He's a Baylor signee.

Ben Gudoy – Francis Parker – Freshman

Gudoy is tied for the team lead in hits in only his freshman season. He has a .558 on-base percentage with eight doubles, a home run and nine stolen bases for the 20-2 Lancers.

Jack Haferkamp – Santa Fe Christian – Sophomore

Haferkamp has made the jump since his freshman season, now hitting .303 with four doubles, two triples and three home runs for the Eagles. He recently committed to UC-Santa Barbara.

Jason Hall – Mt. Carmel – Senior

Hall hit .407 during his first three seasons at San Pasqual. Now at Mt. Carmel, he's hitting .346 with a .550 on-base percentage and two home runs since being eligible to play at the end of March.

Justin Heffler – St. Augustine – Sophomore

Justin Heffler St. Augustine

Heffler has taken a massive jump in his sophomore campaign, hitting .362 with a .481 on-base percentage. He has eight doubles, a triple, and a home run for the 15-6-2 Saints.

Jake Jackson – Madison – Junior

Few athletes in San Diego contribute in three sports as much as Jackson does. The talented football and basketball player is hitting .493 with 11 doubles and three home runs so far for the Warhawks. He's committed to San Diego State.

Jaren Jaffe – Del Norte – Senior

Jaffe hit three home runs for the Nighthawks last season and has showcased his plate discipline with a .462 on-base percentage for Del Norte this year. He's signed with Colorado Mesa.

Gavin Lass – Madison – Senior

Lass has played in 94 games for the Warhawks now in his fourth varsity season. The Cal State San Marcos-signee is hitting .358 with nine double, two triples, four home runs and five stolen bases with two weeks left in the regular season.

Angel Laya – Mission Bay – Freshman

Angel Laya Mission Bay

Laya has adjusted well in his first season, showing strong plate discipline. He's hitting .300 with five doubles for the Buccaneers and has drawn 13 walks while only striking out five times. He's committed to Oregon.

Daniel Leon – Otay Ranch – Senior

Leon has eight multi-hit games for the Mustangs this season while hitting .413 with four doubles, three triples, and a home run.

Ben Lyons – Rancho Bernardo – Junior

Lyons has raised his average over 150 points this season, batting .429 with four doubles and a home run for the Broncos.

Cody Nitowitz – Cathedral Catholic – Junior

Nitowitz has hit .355 in each of the past two seasons while drawing 29 walks over that time. He's committed to UC-Santa Barbara.

Jordan Otjen – Point Loma – Junior

Otjen is hitting .474 for the Pointers and has struck out only five times this season. He had two home runs and drove in seven runs in a win over Clairemont in February.

Anthony Pacino – San Marcos – Senior

Anthony Pacino San Marcos

Pacino has been one of the breakout performers in the San Diego Section this season. After hitting .256 as a junior, he's raised his average to .493 and has walked 21 times. He has eight doubles, a triple, two home runs and nine stolen bases on the year.

Alvaro Partida – La Jolla Country Day – Senior

Partida is .288 with five doubles and a .405 on-base percentage in his final season for the Torreys.

Cameron Tarling – Helix – Senior

Tarling is hitting .357 with two home runs and two doubles for the Highlanders that have won five of six and they head towards the playoffs.

Cooper Whitton – Santa Fe Christian – Senior

Cooper Whitton Santa Fe Christian

Whitton has raised his average from .273 as a junior to .476 as a senior. The Washington-signee has seven home runs, five doubles, two triples and is second in the section with 29 stolen bases.
