Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a look at some of the top baseball players in the CIF Southern Section. We started behind the plate, and then moved to first base. Now we're onto second basemen.

TOP 10 SECOND BASEMEN IN SOUTHERN SECTION HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Aeden Alexander - St. John Bosco - 2022

Alexander is committed to Azusa Pacific. In addition to starring on the diamond, Alexander also writes for the St. John Bosco school paper, the The Brave News. 

Kai Caranto - Harvard-Westlake - 2023

Caranto went 1-for-3 in a 6-0 win over Chaminade earlier this season. A week before that, he went 1-for-3 with two RBI's in a 6-0 win over Alemany. Caranto is a consistent performer for one of the Section's top teams. 

Brandon Contreras - Camarillo - 2023

Contreras stole eight bases for the Scorpions this season. He finished second on the team in hits with 22. 

Owen Fuller - JSerra - 2022

Fuller recently committed to Baylor. In a 4-3 win over Mater Dei earlier this season, Fuller smashed a two run home run and had the game-winning RBI. 

Jack Gold - Peninsula - 2023

Peninsula had a tough season, but Gold was one of the bright spots. The junior batted .323 and finished second on the team with 21 hits. Gold led Peninsula hit 12 doubles. 

Nate Johnson - Westlake - 2024

Johnson had 24 hits for the Warriors this season, which was good for second on the team. He led Westlake with nine doubles. 

Khalifani Muhammad-Coney - Crossroads - 2022

Muhammad-Coney is one of the state leaders in batting average. He's hitting an eye-popping .520 this year. The senior was the only Roadrunner to hit a home run this season. He belted two bombs and also stole a team leading 16 bases. 

Rocco Regan - San Dimas - 2024

Regan is committed to Long Beach State. He's hitting .353 this season 

Easton Rulli - Thousand Oaks - 2022

Rulli is committed to the University of Utah. The senior played a major part in the Lancers Division 2 Southern Section championship run a year ago. This season, Rulli hit a home run against Oaks Christian and had a four RBI game in a 14-1 win over Westlake. 

Brian Trujillo - Huntington Beach - 2023

Trujillo has impressive power for a second baseman. Earlier this season, he had an RBI single in a 5-3 loss to Newport Harbor.
