Watch: Torrey Pines outfielder Ryan Flather discusses walk-off victory against Madison in San Diego Section Open Division playoffs

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Seven innings were not enough for Torrey Pines and Madison on Friday afternoon.
The two teams battled back and forth for just shy of three and a half hours in the second round of the Open Division playoffs before Torrey Pines outfielder Ryan Flather rifled the second pitch he saw in the tenth inning into centerfield, allowing Thomas Maher to sprint home from second base.
As Maher began to slide into home plate he collided with Madison catcher Hunter Stencil just prior to the ball arriving. The ball bounced towards the backstop as Maher regained his footing and stepped on home plate, giving the Falcons a 5-4 walk-off victory.
Madison struck first when junior outfielder Jake Jackson crushed a home run to left field. Torrey Pines catcher JR Barajas responded with a home run of his own in the third inning to cut the Madison lead to 2-1. Jackson extended the Warhawks lead to 4-2 with another solo home run in the sixth inning.
Torrey Pines tied the game in the seventh inning on an error but left the bases loaded, sending the game to extra innings tied at four, allowing Flather to win the game with a walk-off single three innings later.
The Falcons got a huge boost on the mound from sophomore Peyton Rodgers who entered the game to pitch with two outs in the sixth inning. He delivered, allowing one hit, no runs and five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings of relief.
Torrey Pines, the three-seed in the bracket, will be off until Tuesday while Madison will be back in action on Saturday morning in an elimination game against La Costa Canyon, who eliminated San Marcos on Friday.
