Top performers from Day 2 of 2022 Elite 11 Finals: Rickie Collins claims top spot

LOS ANGELES - The second night of the Elite 11 Finals, the nation's premier competition for rising high school senior quarterbacks, took place on Wednesday night from Redondo Union High School in Los Angeles. Night two consisted of a Pro Day workout where each of the 20 Elite 11 QB's made 20 throws to receivers from different areas on the field.
SBLive's Connor Morrissette charted every throw from every quarterback on Wednesday. He used a pass/fail method to judge each throw as either a "plus throw" or a "minus throw." Plus throws didn't have to be perfect, just balls that were well timed and gave the receiver a chance to make a play. Minus throws were mistakes.
At the end of the Pro Day, head Elite 11 quarterback coach Trent Dilfer said the performances stood out as the most consistent Elite 11 Pro Day showings he'd seen.
Here's who caught our eye on night two:
BEST OVERALL
Woodlawn (La.) QB Rickie Collins, a Purdue commit, was the only quarterback to record 20 plus throws on the night. His consistency stood out above the rest, which earned him our night two overall top performer honor.
Baylor commit Austin Novosad out of Dripping Springs, Texas was right on Collins' heels. He recorded a very impressive 19 plus throws to just one minus throw.
The Elite 11 organizers named University of Pittsburgh commit Kenny Minchey (Pope John Paul II Prep, Tenn.) the overall winner of the Pro Day. We charted Mincy with 18 plus throws and only two minus throws. Martin Luther King (Mich.) QB Dante Moore also had 18 plus throws and two minus throws. Moore was our top performer from night one.
OTHER NIGHT TWO TOP PERFORMERS
No QB had more "wow" throws than Maize (Kan.) quarterback Avery Johnson. Of his 17 plus throws, four were absolutely perfect balls.
Six other QB's tossed 17 plus passes and three minus passes: Oklahoma commit Jackson Arnold, Iowa State commit JJ Kohl, USC commit Malachi Nelson, Arkansas commit Malachi Singleton, Miami commit Emory Williams and Tulane QB commit Jaxon Smolik. All six of those quarterbacks had very strong nights.
Clemson QB commit Christopher Vizzina also popped during his Pro Day sequence, which keeps him in the mix for overall Elite 11 MVP. Vizzina threw 16 plus throws and four minus throws.
