2022 CIF-LA City Section football brackets: San Pedro, Venice top two seeds in Open Division

Granada Hills is the top seed in Division I, plays Canoga Park in a first-round game Friday

As expected, undefeated San Pedro is the top seed of the Open Division in the LA City Section football brackets, it was just released on Saturday. 

The Pirates (10-0), who edged Banning-Wilmington 10-7 on Friday, head the eight-team top division and will play eighth-seed Eagle Rock-Los Angeles in a first-round game Nov. 10. Semifinal play takes place Nov. 18 with the championship the following week.

Garfield-Los Angeles (8-2), which beat arch-rival Roosevelt-Los Angeles 16-8 before upwards of 45,000 fans Oct. 21 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the 87th East LA Classic, is the fourth. The Bulldogs travel to undefeated Franklin-Los Angeles (10-0) in another first round game. 

Roosevelt (9-1), the sixth seed, is on the other side of the bracket and will open against Banning (5-5), the third seed. 

The other first-round Open Division game pits seventh-seed Birmingham-Lake Balboa against second-seed Venice-Los Angeles.

Granada Hills Charter (7-3) is the top seed in the 16-team Division I bracket, and the Highlanders open with Canoga Park on Friday. All eight D1 games kick off on Friday. 

Other top seeds are Monroe-North Hills (D2), Chatsworth (D3) and Fulton (8-man).
