Look: Aaron McBride steal, dunk lifts Corona Centennial to section championship at buzzer

ANAHEIM, California — Loyola Marymount commit Aaron McBride's shoulders may as well have been fit for a cape on Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim. 

The 6-foot-7 power forward stole a pass, drove three quarters the length of the court and threw down a two-handed dunk in traffic at the buzzer to lift Corona Centennial to its third consecutive CIF Southern Section Division championship win over St. John Bosco, 58-56.

Jared McCain, the Huskies' Duke commit and McDonald's All-American, jumped around and hugged teammates and coaches. UCLA-bound forward Devin Williams pumped his fists with a look of validation.

McBride played hero in the final moments and also led the Huskies (29-3), the reigning CIF Open Division state champions ranked No. 6 in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25 national rankings, with 18 points and 11 boards.

The Braves (26-6) have been the surprise of CIF Open Division pool play, advancing out of a group that included nationally ranked Harvard-Westlake and West Ranch. 

And they led Centennial for much of the game Saturday, including by two possessions with just over two minutes left. With 55 seconds to play, McBride caught an inbound and hit a fadeaway jump shot to tie the game at 56-56.

With the win, Corona Centennial all but locked up the top seed in the CIF Southern Regional Open bracket, which is announced Sunday.
