Sac-Joaquin Section girls basketball championship photos/roundup: Folsom leaves no doubt over St. Mary's
SACRAMENTO — They jumped, they hugged. Some even cried.
The girls basketball teams that won CIF Sac-Joaquin Section championship at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento over the weekend celebrated their accomplishments because these are memories of a lifetime.
SBLive breaks down the girls' title games.
Each section finalist advances to CIF Northern California Regional tournaments that start this week.
Division 1
No. 1 Folsom 58, No. 2 St. Mary's-Stockton 53 — Depth and balanced scoring powered the Bulldogs to their first section championship in any division in just their second finals appearance, and it came over a program that had towered for decades.
St. Mary's came in having won eight of the last nine D1 section titles and 21 overall.
Dixe McClanahan sealed it with two free throws with 1.2 seconds left, eight players scored and the Bulldogs moved to 26-2 with their 18th consecutive victory.
McClanahan and Sophia Mindermann each scored 12 and Kamryn Mafua had 10.

Division 2
No. 3 Whitney-Rocklin 36, No. 1 Christian Brothers-Sacramento 33 — The Wildcats (19-11) won their first section banner despite a slow start that saw them miss 12 of their first 13 shuts in downing a CB team that had won 29 of 31 games behind rising star forward Harper Peterson had 15 second-half points to lead Whitney. CB was led by Jada Hunter, who had 15.
Division 3
No. 1 Vanden 62, No. 2 Lincoln 42 — The Vikings repeated as champions and their third since 2015 under co-coaches and husband-wife Allison and Jake Johnson.
It was a rematch of last year's final. San Diego State-bound guard Alyssa Jackson had 15 points and Gabby Wright had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Vanden, which is 25-7 and has a 17-game winning streak.
Division 4
No. 1 Colfax 56-37, No. 2 Riverbank 38 — The Falcons won their 12th section championship and third in five seasons as soccer star and 4.0 student Kaia Diedrichs scored 28 points. She had a section-leading 46 soccer goals this winter and helped that team win a section crown.Senior leader Maycee Heimann had 10 points for Colfax, which is 30-2 and has won 18 consecutive games.
Division 5
No. 2 Valley Christian-Roseville 71, No. 1 Bret Harte-Angels Camp 65 — Christelle Williams scored 22 points and Gabby Jackson-Brown had six points and 12 rebounds to lift the Lions to their sixth section crown since 2014 under coach Kim Contreras, who was sure to remind everyone of her stylish glitter boots afterward.
Division 6
No. 1 Faith Christian-Yuba City 50, No. 2 Foresthill 46 — Sisters Audrey and Lauren Harris scored 19 and 23 points, respectively, and they combined for 24 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the Lions to their first championship.
The winning streak is 11 for the 24-5 Lions, coached by Geoff Harris, father of the prolific sisters.
