Recruiting: Pittsburg two-way 2025 standout Jadyn Hudson keeps new coach busy with all inquiries

PITTSBURG, Calif. — New Pittsburg football coach Charlie Ramirez has been more than a little busy preparing for a very promising 2023 season.
It’s his first season as head coach after 12 as defensive coordinator and even though the team lost a boatload of Division I players to graduation — Arizona State quarterback Jaden Rashada, Oregon State wide receiver Zack Card and Washington receiver Rashid Williams to name a few — the cupboard isn’t nearly bare.
His class of 2025 prospects is particularly stacked, led by 4-star safety and wide receiver Jadyn Hudson, who is adding to Ramriez’ busy schedule. The energetic new coach isn’t complaining.
“Every major college program has either visited or has been calling about him,” Ramirez said of Hudson, two-year starter. “We’re talking about the SEC — every conference. He’s getting national attention and it’s completely deserved.”
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder has 27 offers, according to 247Sports composite, which ranks him the No. 51 recruit overall in the class and No. 5 safety in the country.
Hudson had 71 tackles and three pass deflections as a sophomore, while hauling in 12 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns on a team loaded with receivers.
“He’ll see a lot more passes this season,” said Ramirez, a 1994 Pittsburg graduate and standout linebacker who helped the Pirates to a 1991 North Coast Section title, the last team not named De La Salle to win a large-school crown. “He was rotating a lot last year, but he’s one of the top guys now (on offense).”
His meal ticket appears to be on defense, where he started as a freshman. What has impressed Ramirez the most is his continued “maturity into a leadership role. He’s really embracing it. He’s working super hard in the weight room. He’s really transitioned from being the young guy to now helping all the young guys.”
According to 247Sports, he’s warmed up to Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State and Oregon, along with local pick California. Among his other offers: Ohio State, Oklahoma, Miami, Tennessee, SMU and USC.
The team’s other big 2025 recruit is edge rusher Jewelous Walls (6-2, 225), who has 11 college offers, including Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, Washington and USC. Safety Etene Pritchard (6-1, 180) is another top junior recruit.
Juniors who figure to put up big numbers are quarterback Marley Alcantara (5-10, 175) and running back/linebacker Elijah Bow (1,195 yards rushing, 16 touchdowns). Alcantara was lights out every time he replaced Rashada, completing 58 of 99 for 908 yards, 14 touchdowns and one interception.
“He’s the leader of the team right now — in the weight room, on the field,” Ramirez said of Alcantara. “He’s got all the intangibles and he has a great arm. He’s got a lot of moxie and savvy. He’s the complete package. You couldn’t ask for a better quarterback in your first year as head coach.”
A couple of senior prospects of note are wideout-cornerback Noah Quesada and transfer Bobby Shaw, son of former Cal and NFL player by the same name. The younger saw is a wide receiver and cornerback, just like his dad.
Quesada has had two brothers come through the Pittsburg program and put up superb prep careers.
