MISSION VIEJO, CALIFORNIA — Receiver Phillip Bell had two touchdown receptions to lead Mission Viejo to a convincing 27-14 victory over De La Salle on Friday night in the CIF State Division 1-AA state football championship game at Saddleback College.

Bell finished with seven catches for 77 yards.

It marks the first state football title for the Diablos (13-3) since 2015 and the second in program history. 

The Spartans (11-3) suffered their sixth consecutive loss in a state championship game.

Mission Viejo held a 10-7 lead at the half before taking control in the third quarter.
