SACRAMENTO — Kavon Collins scored a team-high 22 points to help lift Monterey over Chatsworth 74-66 on Saturday afternoon in the California (CIF) Division 4 state boys basketball championship at the Golden 1 Center.

Joshua Hart had 19 points for the Toreadores (25-6) including hitting on a boys Division 4 record-tying five 3-pointers. Ryan Roth added 18 points in the victory.

Monterey was making its first appearance in a state hoop title game.

Alijah Arenas led the Chancellors (20-15) with a game-high 44 points which is the second-most points scored in any boys division state championship game. Arenas scored 18 points in the first half and added 26 in the second. 

Taj Unuakhalu grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds for Chatsworth.
