Making the one-handed grab in football was made widely popular when NFL’er Odell Beckham made his highlight reception against the Dallas Cowboys back in 2014.

A feat attempted by any and every wide receiver when given the opportunity comes almost in any setting. Tackle or flag football or 7-on-7s, players try to emulate the play

Lakewood junior wide receiver Shamar Rigby pulled it off and wowed onlookers at the RI5E Sports 7v7 tournament this past weekend. Rigby, a 6-foot-5 receiver, went up high to snag a catch with one hand and made it look routine in this play below.

The leap. The catch. A touchdown. Rigby has seen his stock steadily rise after the 2022 season, with the junior currently owning offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa State, Louisville and Marshall.

For the 2022 season, Rigby caught 42 passes for 632 yards and eight touchdowns for the Class 2A state semifinalist Spartans. Rigby figures to be one of the top returning wideouts in the Tampa Bay Area when the 2023 season rolls around.
