WESLEY CHAPEL, FLORIDA- One of the top quarterbacks in Pasco County heading into the 2022 season made his college commitment on Tuesday afternoon.

Wiregrass Ranch quarterback Luke Knight announced that he is committing to play for Army via Twitter. Knight chose Army over Navy and Toledo, respectively.

“This was a life decision,” Knight said. “Choosing West Point was choosing to set my life up to be successful. It was the best fit for me and what I want within a school that offers the most prestigious education you can receive. It’s everything you could ever wish for.”

In his sophomore season, Knight completed 171-of-237 for 2,511 yards, 30 touchdowns versus nine interceptions for Jesuit. Knight led the Tigers to the Class 6A state championship in 2021 season, defeating Pensacola Pine Forest 35-29.

In the 2022 season, Knight landed at Merritt Island High School and appeared in eight games for the Mustangs. This past season for Merritt Island, Knight completed 133-of-214 passes for 1,852 yards, 11 touchdowns versus nine interceptions.

“The environment of the coaches and players as well as the new offense style really set army apart,” Knight added. “The campus is amazing with everything you need within arms reach, but the people and the way they go about their business is exactly what fits my mold. The new offense is styled to my play, giving me a chance to grow and thrive in college.”
