River Ridge (Florida) hires former Middleton head coach Fred Reid as new lead man
NEW PORT RICHEY, FLORIDA- Coming off winning a district championship last season, River Ridge High School needed to bring in someone who’s been a head coach before as summer workouts/7-on-7’s are ongoing around the state.
On Wednesday morning, River Ridge found the man for the job to be the successor to Greg Miller. River Ridge athletic director Mike Degannaro told SBLive Sports Florida they have tabbed former Middleton head coach Fred Reid as the program’s next lead man.
“We are excited to have Coach (Fred) Reid on board,” Degannaro said in a statement. “He brings so much experience for the student athletes. As a high school athlete being recruited to Mississippi State, playing in NFL and CFL, coaching in HS, and Coaching in CFL. These are all experiences that can help him grow our student athletes.”
Reid coached at Middleton for five seasons (2014-2018) compiling an overall record of 18-34 over that period of time.
Miller went 6-5 in one season and led the Royal Knights to the Class 3S, District 6 championship before losing to Ocala Vanguard in the region quarterfinal round. Miller stepped down from the position back on May 26 as he accepted a coaching job in Georgia.
