The leading rusher in the Sunshine State last season wasn’t out of one of the metro areas, but from a very rural region in Florida.
Sneads running back Jason Patterson, a 3-star rated tailback according to 247Sports, led all rushers in 2022 with 2,721 yards. Ahead of other Panhandle running backs Cole Tabb (Choctawhatchee), Kayleb Wagner (Baker) and Jamarkus Jefferson (Northview).
Patterson is back for the Pirates this season after scoring 37 total touchdowns (35 rushing; 2 receiving) a year ago. The running back rushed 226.8 yards per game with a 13.2 per carry.
