MIAMI, FLORIDA- When T.A. Cunningham arrived in Dade County over the offseason, transferring over from Los Alamitos to Miami Central, some thoughts arose that maybe he’d decide on playing for the nearby Miami Hurricanes after high school.

On Saturday afternoon, Cunningham decided he’d be heading to Happy Valley instead.

Cunningham announced Saturday that he will be heading to Pennsylvania and committing to the Penn State Nittany Lions. The defensive end is a 4-star rated Class of 2024 prospect according to 247Sports and chose Penn State over Miami (FL) and Texas A&M, respectively.

Cunningham had 66 tackles (22 for loss) and seven sacks as a sophomore in 2021 playing for Johns Creek in Georgia. He didn’t immediately step onto the field for Los Alamitos coming over from Georgia as the CIF deemed him ineligible at first due to a rule violation.

He was eventually ruled eligible by the CIF in time for the Griffins’ sixth game of the season and still made an impact throughout the regular season. Cunningham finished with 17 total tackles for Los Alamitos, which finished 9-3 last fall.
