The Florida high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 24 — 29 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Florida will give you one significant number per day.

29

Looking around at the top returning running backs to the state of Florida from the 2022 season, some of the names you remember from a year ago have graduated. Northview’s Jamarkus Jefferson, Plantation American Heritage’s Mark Fletcher and a host of others are off to college.

Don’t worry, though, as there’s a host of other tailbacks coming back and one of them is Bartram Trail’s Laython Biddle. Biddle heads into this fall with a new head coach in Cory Johns, who plans to mix it up after spending the last few years at Nature Coast Technical, which has been dubbed ‘Running Back U’.

The running back is coming off a 2022 campaign in which as a junior, Biddle rushed for 1,515 yards and scored 29 touchdowns on the ground. Expectations will remain high for Biddle and the Bears in 2023.
