Vanguard (Florida) four-star safety Fred Gaskin III made his commitment on Monday afternoon to the Bulls

OCALA, FLORIDA- Making a decision on where to end up after his playing days at Vanguard High School hasn’t been an easy one for athlete Fred Gaskin III.

Playing primarily at quarterback and safety for the Knights in 2022, making a decision before the 2023 season began weighed heavily on his mind. Up until now at least and he will just have to travel down Interstate 75 south to get to his school of choice.

The Vanguard (Florida) senior wide receiver/safety announced Monday after via X, formerly known as Twitter, that he is heading to Tampa and committing to the USF. The safety is a 4-star rated Class of 2024 prospect according to 247Sports and chose the Bulls over schools like Alabama, Auburn, Colorado Florida, and Florida State.

Gaskin III will see more time at wide receiver and safety after serving as the starting quarterback for the Knights last year. At quarterback, Gaskin III threw for 1,492 yards, 18 touchdowns and rushed for 582 and five scores. On defense, he made 18 tackles and picked off three passes.
