SARASOTA, FLORIDA- With under seven minutes remaining and trailing 33-20 to Sarasota Riverview on the road, it would’ve been easy to pack it in for Clearwater Academy International.

Through a crazy sequence of events to end Friday night’s game, however, the Knights made the impossible happen at the Ram Bowl.

Clearwater Academy freshman quarterback Joaquin Kavouklis connected with Minnesota commitment Dallas Sims on a time expiring, game-winning Hail Mary touchdown pass to lift the Knights to a 35-33 win over the Rams.

After getting multiple possessions in the final three minutes of the game and coming away with nothing to show for it, an ending reminiscent of last weekend’s Miami-Georgia Tech occurred.

The Knights had two timeouts with less than 50 seconds left on the clock and the Rams had the ball. A unsportsmanlike penalty and three kneel downs later left 7.7 seconds left on the clock.

Punter Anthony Miller took the fourth down snap and ran it out of the back of the endzone for the Rams, making the game 33-29 Sarasota Riverview.

Problem was 1.8 seconds still remained on the game clock. The ensuing squib kick went 16 yards to the 36-yard line of Sarasota’s and the following play left the home crowd stunned.

Kavouklis threw up a prayer to Sims and he answered with the 36-yard score, which you can see in the video below.

It was a crazy ending to what was a wild Week 8 in the Sunshine State for high school football.
