The Cougars win first state football championship in 51 years
Chris McCorkle scored the game's go-ahead touchdown and added the game-sealing interception to lead Cardinal Mooney to a 31-27 victory over Trinity Catholic on Friday morning in the Florida (FHSAA) Class 1S state championship game in Tallahassee.
It marked the first state football title in 51 years for the Cougars (12-2).
With less than a minute to go, quarterback Michael Valentino hit a wide open McCorkle to give Cardinal Mooney the lead.
