Jayce Nixon, 2025 quarterback, has transferred from Gaither to Venice

Nixon becomes the second Gaither QB to leave for the Indians in three years

For the second time in three years, a quarterback from Tampa’s Gaither High School will be transferring down to Sarasota County to play for Venice High School. 

2025 quarterback Jayce Nixon announced via X, formerly known as Twitter, that he will be leaving the Cowboys to join the three-time state champion Indians. 

Back before the spring of 2022, Brooks Bentley left Gaither and headed to Venice. Bentley quarterbacked the Indians into the Class 4S state championship game and was named SBLive Florida’s South Suncoast Player of the Year. 

The southpaw transferring, it becomes the third high school Nixon has attended, with Zephyrhills Christian Academy being his first as a freshman. 

Through his first three years as a quarterback, Nixon put up some big numbers under center. 

Freshman (Zephyrhills Christian Academy): 68-of-92, 1,333 yards, 14 touchdowns 

Sophomore (Gaither): 218-of-343, 3,269 yards, 36 touchdowns 

Junior (Gaither): 246-of-363, 3,172 yards, 29 touchdowns 

Nixon currently holds college overtures from schools like Jackson State, Maryland and Toledo. 

Venice has finished as the state runner-ups in Class 4S in 2022-2023 to Lakeland.
