Congratulations to last week's winner: Steve Fitzgerald, Victory Christian Academy!
Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Florida High School Boys Basketball Coach of the Week of Jan. 8-Jan. 13 as nominated SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Voting will conclude on Sunday at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced Monday, Jan. 22nd.
Here are the nominees:
Patrick Todd, Umatilla: Since returning to the Bulldogs in 2020, Todd has done a great job with the program. Todd has Umatilla riding a 4-game winning streak and sitting with a 12-3 record.
Charlsea Clark, Atlantic Coast: Winning your first game always feels good. That was the mood for Clark and the Stingrays, as she led Atlantic Coast to a 44-39 win over Englewood last week.
Ian Gibson, St. Johns Country Day: When your team is on a 7-game winning streak, it's hard to ignore the kind of job Gibson is doing. Gibson led the Spartans to wins over St. Johns Classical Academy and West Nassau last week.
Vince Cherry, Cardinal Mooney: Coming off a couple disappointing losses the previous week, Cherry got his Cougars back on track last week. Cherry led the team to wins over Imagine School of North Port, Sarasota Riverview and North Port.
Kevin Boyle, Montverde Academy: Yes, Boyle coaches one of the most talented squads in the country, but it takes a certain guy to run the elite program out of Central Florida. Boyle has the Eagles undefeated at 19-0, with wins last week over Oak Hill Academy, Brewster Academy and Prolific Prep.
Matthew McGarry, Springstead: The Eagles have started to play some of their best basketball of the season under the guidance of McGarry. Springstead is on a 3-game winning streak, picking up victories over Crystal River, Mitchell and Weeki Wachee.
Fred Ross, Dwyer: One of the hottest teams down in South Florida is right out of West Palm Beach. Ross has his Panthers as winners of their last 11 games, including victories last week over Martin County, Wellington and Westwood Christian.
