Vote: Who is the South Suncoast Boys Basketball Player of the Week (1/16/2024)?

The Florida High School Boys Basketball season is in full swing and we continue our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams started off the regular season with some great individual performances.

As such, we have seven athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s South Suncoast high school boys basketball player of the week award from January 8-13, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, January 21st at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Congratulations to Parrish Community's Malaki Cuffy for winning last week’s South Suncoast poll!

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominees:

Chris Cornish, Charlotte: The senior wing didn't just help in the scoring department, but also on the glass for the Fightin' Tarpons. Cornish scored 18 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in a 56-37 win over Fort Myers.

Deylen Platt, Venice: The senior wing came up big for the Indians in a 79-66 win over North Fort Myers, scoring a game-high 27 points. Venice moved to 9-9 on the season with the win.

Johnny Lackaff, Sarasota: Lackaff has played well for one of Sarasota County's top boys basketball teams. In the Sailors' 78-50 rout of Venice, Lackaff scored a game-high 21 points.

Zahmir Jackson, Imagine School of North Port: Just a freshman, Jackson has continued to impress those all around the South Suncoast. The freshman scored 17 points in a 97-64 win over The Classical Academy of Sarasota.

Josh Harris, Sarasota Riverview: The sophomore sensation was the go-to-player for the Rams in their 84-42 rout of Imagine School of North Port, scoring a game-high 21 points.

Ben Milliken, Sarasota Christian: Milliken had himself a big night in the Blazers' 58-50 victory over Manatee last week, scoring a game-high 25 points.

Dylan Higgins, Parrish Community: The senior guard was solid in the Bulls' 67-34 victory over Ida Baker, with Higgins scoring 16 points and grabbing four rebounds.
