WAUCHULA, FLORIDA- Sometimes what is old is new again.

That’s the rout Hardee High School took in naming their next head football coach, as the school announced Tuesday afternoon the return of Derren Bryan to the Wildcats’ sidelines.

Bryan is no stranger when it comes to the area as he last coached at Hardee back in 2006. In his final three years at the helm, Bryan led the Wildcats to a record of 32-4 between 2004-2006.

The Wildcats are coming off a bounce back season after finishing 1-7 under Brian Kemp in 2022. Hardee went 8-3 in Kemp’s final season, reaching the Class 2S playoffs and falling to Estero 26-6 in the region quarterfinals.

Bryan’s son, Jorren, was a junior quarterback last season, completing all four of his passes for 30 yards.
